USA J1 Visa Waiver (212e, 2YRR) for EMBO, Marie Curies, Human Frontiers fellowships

Greetings,

I am wondering if someone has gone on a postdoc (or knows someone that has) to the USA with a J1 Visa on a EMBO, Marie Curie, Human Frontiers or other (multi)national fellowship and managed to get a waiver from the 2 year residence rule in the home country.
I don't know if that is also relevant.

Thanks in advance

It depends on your country of origin and your field of study. I was a postdoc in the US, first on J1 and subsequently on an H1B visum - the residency requirement didn't apply to me since I come from an industrialised, European country. An Indian friend of mine was in a similar situation and also got the residency requirement waived, but it involved quite a bit of paperwork.... The International Affairs Office or similar of the institution you want to go to should be able to help you out.
