Hi everyone,

About a week ago, in Life Sciences Weekly, a study touted the growing biotech/pharma field in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Deleware, and I was wondering whether folks were really seeing job opportunities on the ground. Many of the students & postdocs at UCSF were homing in on California, and reluctant to look elsewhere.

According to the article, "...the health research industry in Pennsylvania, Biotech and pharmaceutical companies in New Jersey and Pennsylvania employ 81,000 people and indirectly support another 390,000 jobs, according to an industry-funded study."

It went on to say that the number of 1400 companies in the tristate area meant that the region was closing in on California as a biotech/pharma hub (with 2500 companies). One assumes this translates into attractive employment opportunities.

So, a question to the forum community - do you agree with the article? Is there a lot of activity (and jobs) in that tri-state area? If so, what types of scientists would find the opportunities attractive?

Be well,
