I have registered to attend the Bio NC Life Science Career Fair this week but I don't really know what to expect from it. Are interviews conducted at these events? If so, how are they set up? How many resumes should I bring? Does anyone have any tips on how to make this a productive use of time?

Bring a couple of dozen CVs and expect to be in long lines, meeting primarily HR people for short, five minute introductory interviews. You'll also meet the occasional hiring manager. Great interview practice. Make sure you have your "Tell me about yourself" response done! See NextWave article of same topic,

Hi Christy,

The UCSF Career Center also has an article on Successfully Navigating A Career Fair that we give to students/postdocs at: http://saawww.ucsf.edu/career/StudentPostdoc/jobfairarticle.doc

You can find out much information about the job fair in advance. How many companies are going to be there? Who are they? The information is usually readily available online. You may want to do a search on the company websites to find out their openings and tailor your resume for each position that may fit you.
