Non-US citizen and non academic jobs

Postby CT » Fri Jan 28, 2005 4:06 pm

I'm a non-US citizen and I'm considering trying to get a job outside of the ivory tower. I would like to stay in the US due to personal reasons, and I'm concerned about how difficult it is to get a visa for a non-academic job. It seems to me that getting an H visa for a post-doc is difficult enough, how much harder is it to get a company to sponsor a non citizen? Is there anyone else out there who has followed this path? My intuition tells me that big companies would be best, but I really have no idea. FYI one of the careers I'm investigating is management consulting; I have a PhD in neuroscience from an Ivy League school.
