Commercialization of science-internships?

Postby Hemant Khanna » Sun Aug 14, 2005 7:33 am

I am trying to assess the opportunities/needs of the market for PhD's interested in technology transfer? I am interested in being more proactive in the transitioning of technologies from the bench to the market rather than the discovery of technologies. I have now completed 3 yrs of postdoctoral training encompassing the areas of biotech and food/agriculture; two areas with tremendous potential for patents and the commercialization of science. I wonder about the training needed to make a transition to such positions given there might be a demand for Ph.D.'s with interests in technology transfer? Are any internships available to facilitate this transition? What is the growth potential for scientists in such positions? Kindly provide some insight
