If you've been visiting the AAAS Career DIscussion Forum for some time, you know that one of the unique aspects of this discussion is that the forum actually has professionals who watch over it and care about our community. When combined with your moderator's background, our advisers have had MOST career tracks covered -- the academic, the industrial and the non-profits. But there's been a missing piece. We haven't had any professional adviser associated with this forum who comes from a Government research background.

The possibilities of working in government labs are of real interest to many people, and we have finally found the perfect person to add to our adviser team in order to help us in this area of expertise . . . I'd like to welcome Dr. Mario Cerritelli to our short list of advisers. Mario is currently the director of the intramural career development office at the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, MD.

I met Mario at a University of Pittsburgh "train the trainers" event called "Teaching Survival Skills and Ethics." He's spent over twenty years in goverment labs and at the NIH, and as you'll see by reading his biosketch, he's quite well qualified to offer his advice to others here on the AAAS Science Careers Discussion Forum. You'll see his photo and biosketch soon, and he'll start to add value to threads of all kinds in the following days and weeks.

Thanks go out to our host, the AAAS, for the help in putting together a first-class board of advisers for this site. As we move towards a registered-community of readers on the forum, we intend to help build the value you get from each visit to this site.
