Can an experience in a start-up be as valuable as a postdoc ?

Hi all,

I am getting close to the end of my thesis and am trying to decide what to do next. I know that I want to move to industry but I don't know what is the best way for me to get there ?
On a previous post on that forum, people suggested that a postdoc experience, either in industry or academia, was highly recommended to have all the chances to find a position in industry. But I am wondering if a first experience in a small start-up could actually replace the postdoc experience and give me maybe more valuable experience ? My idea is that a position in a start-up could actually allow me to have an idea of how a company work, since the size is much smaller than a pharmaceutical industry. That may be a highly valuable experience to then find a job in industry.
Does anybody have suggestions about this ? Does it seem like a reasonnable choice ? Would recruiters be interesting with this kind of experience ?

All of your suggestions will be welcome.

Best,

Matthieu
