[The following is a prompt for story content from a Science Careers writer]

For an upcoming Mind Matters column, I hope you will be willing to share your experiences and expertise with your fellow trainees:

What are some of the unique challenges faced by young scientists who move to a foreign country for their training or work? What are some of the mishaps and misunderstandings that occur because of differences between cultures?

Can you provide any specific examples of different attitudes and approaches in the lab based on culture? What strategies can trainees, their peers, their supervisors, and their institutions employ to facilitate adaptation?

Please post your thoughts here or send them to me at Irene.MindMatters@gmail.com

Thanks in advance for your help!

Irene
