I read through the thread where JM Greene was a guest on this forum discussing bioinformatics careers, but it is a bit dated (July 2006).
Can anyone out there tell me a bit about the pros and cons of working as an information specialist if you hold an advanced degree in chemistry and do not love the bench (or fume hood).
How are these individuals viewed by the rest of the scientific community, how are job prospects looking, etc.
