Post doc topic advice

Postby Kristin » Fri Nov 09, 2007 11:30 am

As a 5th year PhD student, I am starting to seriously think about potential areas to work in for my post doc. I am not sure when I will finish yet, but I am guessing 1.5-2 years. I enjoy my current topic of research, but I think I may need to \"branch out\" and learn about another area so I won\'t be so narrowly trained. Is it best to do this or to stay focused on the same area (broadly, not the same exact topic) if you decide to embark upon an industrial research career track? Does it even matter?
