Jobs for MBAs with no PhD

Postby Luke » Sun Dec 06, 2009 3:11 pm

I am 2 years out of college and for the third straight year considering going for a PhD. I've been working in finance, though, and the other option I'm considering if trying to find an industry job (I only have a BS in biology) and doing a night MBA while I work, with the goal of entering the "business end" of biotech or pharma.

However, I don't really have a very good idea of what MBAs do in science industry, particularly those without PhDs. What are some typical job titles of MBAs in science, and what are their job responsibilities? Is it a big hindering factor to not have a PhD if you are in the business end?

Thanks very much,
