Does anyone know about FDA's NCTR Center?

Hello Everyone,

I am completing my Ph.D. in Bioinformatics next year, and was offered a postdoctoral fellowship at FDR's NCTR (National Center of Toxicological Research)'s toxicogenomics group in Arkansas. The starting pay is pretty decent.

After discussing this position with some colleagues, they seem to think NCTR has a low visibility in their research impact because of its geographic location (e.g. Arkansas); NCTR is often portrayed as being a no man's land, and there seems to be virtually no life out there.

Therefore, I am wondering, what are people's opinions on working at NCTR? Will it help my future transition to, hopefully a permanent position at the federal agencies or in pharmaceutical industries?

Thanks in advance for any input.
