Interview \

Postby Kelley » Tue Nov 16, 2004 3:31 pm

I am currently applying for Microbiology faculty positions and have been invited for an interview at two universities. Both visits will last for two complete days with the second day having an \"informal\" discussion about my research, future goals, etc. At the first university, the meeting will be open to all faculty members, but at the second university, it will be a meeting with the search committee faculty members. Since these interviews will be my first faculty candidate interviews, I am very unfamiliar with what to expect.

Some questions:

Should I prepare any PowerPoint slides or other visual aids for this meeting? If so, what are some suggestions on what type of information should be on these visual aids?

What types of questions should I anticipate at this meeting?

Is this meeting really \"informal\" as both search committee chairs have indicated?

If anyone can offer some insight, suggestions, or recommendations, I would greatly appreciate it.

Hi Kelley,

Congrats on your interviews! I'm going to assume you don't have time to make it to a bookstore, so all of my suggestions are online. They include information about the day long interview format, questions, presentation materials, etc.:
