Changing Careers

Postby Lisa » Sat Dec 11, 2004 1:53 pm

Hello! I am interested in changing careers into the sciences/biotech industry and I live in the Bay Area. I have been a teacher for 7 years, but I have a B.S. in Biology from UCLA and I have taken coursework at UCSC Extension as well as CSUHayward and UCBerkeley.
When I went to a temporary recruiting services, the only positions available were entry level glassware technician positions earning 30 - 35K less than what I am making now.

Is anyone familiar with programs/schooling that would help in the transition?
Does anyone know a good way to structure my resume in order to emphasize my science background experience?
How can I go about getting more research experience in the biological sciences?
Also, there were advertisements in the BART trains indicating that the AAAS Science Careers website had a special section on changing careers. Could someone point out where those are on the website.
Thanks in advance for your help!
Lisa
