Post-doc grant: institution

Postby MP » Sun Oct 01, 2006 2:02 pm

I am planning to apply for a post-doc position at both Uni. of Rochester and Case Western Uni. in the engineering department. Both have good programs. But, quite a few people mentioned that pursuing a post-doc at Case will ensure a better future. My question is: does the name of institution make a difference in obtaining a post-doc grant? Are grants in general offered, based upon “brand name” institutions?
