CRO/Clinical Project Management

Postby S.M.S. » Wed Sep 12, 2007 5:24 pm

Based on Dave\'s response to an earlier question of mine I would like to pose a new question.

What is a career in CRO (Clinical Research Outsourcing)like and how do I break into it? I am specifically interested in the areas of contract management, site selection, vendor management, managing clinical trials activities etc.

I have a BSc. + MSc. in Bio and 4+ years of Life Science experience (Medical Devices). I also have 2+ years in international outsourcing management, although it is in business outsourcing and not clinical outsourcing.

How difficult would it be for someone like me to get into Pharma CRO? Is it a good career?
What are some first steps to break in? What kind of salary and career growth can I expect?
I would love to hear from anyone who has experience in this field or knows more about it.
