What’s the solution to turn biology more professional?

Postby VSN » Wed Feb 27, 2008 9:24 am

Hi friends,
While reading most of the questions in the forum and my own concerns, the graduate students in biology are puzzled with the lack of professional dimensions they have after school. Post-doc become as the default way more than a choice or option. Realistically, if a PhD graduate wants to go to industry, there are fewer chances as the company can do works with a master’s student. So in biology graduate domain, the brain power is just accumulating knowledge, but is not touching the consumer end unlike the IT, engineering or management sides. How can this be fixed in a long term. How can we change from the traditional knowledge bags to the consuming end?

Thanks for your time and attention
